The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is warning consumers about possible Salmonella contamination of Trader Joe's fresh organic basil.
As of April 18, 2024, twelve people have been reported sickened by Salmonella linked to the contaminated basil. One person required hospitalization.
The CDC advises throwing away any Infinite Herbs organic basil purchased from Trader Joe's, regardless of purchase date.
In addition to discarding the basil, wash and sanitize any surfaces or containers that may have come into contact with the contaminated herbs.
